Warner files fundraising report after blaming FBI raid for delay

Freshman Rep. Todd Warner, one of three Republican House members who recently had their homes and offices raided by the FBI, has filed a campaign finance disclosure after previously saying he couldn’t access his records because they had been seized by the federal agents.

The Registry of Election Finance ruled this week that it didn’t have the authority to give Warner an extension due to the law enforcement activity and instructed him to reconstruct his report from online filings

According to the report, Warner’s top donations in the fourth quarter were $1,500 each from the PACs of Amazon and House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville). He also received $1,000 each from CVS Health, the Marshall County Republican Party, and Rep. Tim Rudd (R-Murfreesboro).

Warner reported raising a total of $9,750 and spending $1,183 during the period.

The other lawmakers searched by the FBI were Reps. Glen Casada of Franklin and Robin Smith of Hixson.

When, oh when, will we enact true campaign finance reform? Until then, we will continue to have the WORST legislature money can buy. Correcting the powers of the Registry of Election Finance might be a start… but that would assume people of integrity composed a greater proportion. I’ve not been especially impressed with its less-than-timely attention to obvious abuses. And this is a non-partisan cancer in Tennessee politics. An equal opportunity corruption.

At this point he needs to be audited. Does the Registry even have the power to order that? Are they just going to let the FBI do their job for them? What’s the point of them exactly?

Wasn’t The Registry created by the legislature? I seem to remember it being used in the past as an incumbent protection tool as well.

Meanwhile in more important news, thanks to the help of the two U.S. Senators from Tennessee, the partisan political circus has come to an end in Washington and former President Trump was rightfully acquitted. Maybe the Tennessee Journal will share the statements from our two senators.

Unfortunately, most TN laws are written in such a way to allow politicians at every level of state government to not be held accountable.

This would be relevant news if only this representative failed or was late to file reports. I know of at least two candidates in my area that are very late in their filings.

It’s cold out there LeeAnn so it’s good to have one or two teapots on the stove ready to go. It’s also an odd numbered year so if you are a political blogger or a leftist political junkie you might as well stir up a little tempest while the teapots are handy don’t you think?

Stuart lashing out about his self-diminished charges against the crooked republicans and conservatives. It just really upsets his day when one of his high scorers on the big board gets charged with unethical or criminal behavior and it is happening more and more often. On the national level, our congress showed yesterday that it has exactly seven total Republicans with enough courage to stand up to a thug and bully trying to destroy our democracy. One of the policeman that was injured in the mob riot on Jan 6 said yesterday that he had hoped that the Republican senators would have at least as much courage as he demonstrated that day to stand up to the mob boss, but as usual the republicans failed miserably. It is extremely difficult to convict a guilty person when several of his co-conspirators are key members of the jury. Stuart says he is done with Trump but the republicans don’t appear to be and he will undoubtedly continue to tear at the fabric of our country. He is the master of the republican lies and dirty tricks beliefs and tactics.

Actually this political theatre that the Democrats cooked up to appeal to their base, most of whom are suffering from TDS, will do some good after all. Thanks to her vote to impeach Trump tepid conservative Liz Cheney (Heritage-72%) is serving what sure will be her last term in Congress. We don’t need no stinkin’ tepid conservative from WYOMING!!!! Ata way to blow a career Liz!

Yeah, the democrats hired all their friends to go tear up their own offices at the Capitol and kill a few policemen and stage it all to make it look like the conservative group that had been meeting in public and practicing all week to do exactly that. Did Trump call the Democrats gathered that evening of Jan. 6 to guide them too. Stuart, your idea of “political theatre that the Democrats cooked up” is totally 100% rediculas, pure rubbish. Then you use another diversion (Liz Chaney) to draw attention away from such an utterly stupid statement. Wow, the conservatives are really getting desperate as their highly regarded party unity implodes right in front of their eyes.
David Frum said today that “Trump lives in a palace by the sea being supported by unconstitutional emoluments from foreign governments, unethical payments from the US Treasury to his businesses, and donations from the suckers he duped.” Republicans and conservatives would love to do the same. Same old, same old. Liz Cheney has tons more courage and pride than your dear “looser for life” Marsha.

She’s already moved her family from Wyoming to Washington D.C. and sometime in January 2023 she will be available for a new career after Republicans in Wyoming bring an end to her career in Congress. I am sure she can use you Taxpayer as well as David Frum and others on the left fringe of the Republican Party as a reference as I look forward to her replacement by a solid conservative. I believe there are already two declared candidates to oppose her in the 2022 Wyoming Republican primary.

Again, with the Wyoming Diversion. I noticed that you did not even attempt to defend your farce claim of, “Political Theatre” statement. That’s OK I know evangelical conservatives are hurting just now so you don’t have to answer. FYI Stuart, I would never support anyone even remotely related to Dick Cheney. He ranks right up there with Trump and she is not much better although I do give her lots of credit for voting the truth in the recent Impeachment Trail. Truth is something the conservatives could use a little more of these days.

By “political theatre” I was, of course, referring to this second impeachment farce that your Democratic friends bored us with of a man who was already out of office that had not the slightest chance getting through the Senate rather than the riot in the Capitol. I admit that sometimes I get tired of explaining the clear meaning of what I say to you so I simply decide to let you bang on about “bad Republicans this” and “bad Republicans that” without responding.

Obviously you enjoy nonstop criticism of the Republican Party. It’s just as obvious that I enjoy envisioning a Republican Party that is something other than a shill for the Chamber of Commerce. You talk about what interests you and I talk about what interests me. The article we are replying to concerns Todd Warner satisfying his filing requirements. You “diverted” the conversation to talk about the current Trump impeachment, I in turn “diverted” your diversion by talking about the expected political demise of yet another centrist/tepid conservative Republican pol. That’s the way these conversations go Taxpayer, nothing to see here, let’s just move on.

Is it “truth” or “facts that scare you conservatives so much? You seem to just hit a brick wall when either one is mentioned. When you say…”nothing to see here, let’s just move on”, I say yes, there is indeed something to see here… and no, a group of radical conservatives do not have the right to just move on and overlook the Impeachable offense of inciting an insurrection.
It may appear to you that it is non-stop criticizing of republicans but your darling conservative republicans, as a group, are constantly getting into ethical and legal trouble that you wish to completely just ignore and this article is just one more example of this.

I’ll give you another example that just was brought to light today, Stuart. Kristi Noem, the Republican Governor of South Dakota is now under investigation into her use of the State’s Plane for her personal travel to attend conservative political party events, including Trump Rallies. The announcement also states that she invited her family onto the plane and used it for personal family vacation travel. Yes, before you start bellowing at me, she has not been convicted yet. But these are the types of unethical and illegal things that just pop up almost every day now in relation to the Conservative Republican Party. The so called republican party is imploding as I write, and rightfully so. Trump hates the conservatives, the far right wing group believes trump is the only person that can lead the party, McConnell says NO, evangelicals scream that they are “over trump”, and trump himself will shortly be battling in many courts just to keep himself out of jail. And all of these groups just want to use politics to raise money for their various, nefarious projects. Four or five big time Republicans have already said they will not run again; the party numbers are dropping every day. So you just keep up the good work Stuart, keeping up with those high scores.

My concern, of course, is not with Taxpayer’s banging on about Republicans from his leftist perspective, but it with new readers who might stumble upon Taxpayer’s words without knowing that Taxpayer often hasn’t the slightest idea of what he is talking about. Conservatives please note, Kristi Noam’s lifetime Heritage score in Congress is 58%. That’s 58% from SOUTH DAKOTA!!!

Kristi might give the impression that besides being like so many Republican lady officeholders good looking, she is also a flinty conservative Midwesterner in those South Dakota tourist ads that we see on TV. Actually, she is nothing but a centrist Republican coming from a state in which she has no excuse for being a centrist Republican. Conservatives please remember that in 2024 when, it is rumored, she might have Presidential ambitions. No reason to even think about Noam at 58% when we have DeSantis (88%), Crux (91%), Josh Hawley (83%), etc.

Again, you don’t dispute any facts that I put out there about the charges but you are ready to say I don’t have the slightest idea of what I speak of. Just throw out a blanket denial and then tell those who might care that she is just one of the lower scoring dregs of the party and we should not pay any attention to her or her ethical and legal troubles. I believe that is sort of what you claimed about Trump. In fact this seems to be your go to defense for your conservative party buddies when they get caught by the Feds.
And then to top your defense off you claim to support one of the three biggest crooks who are long-known shady characters in Desantis, Cruise, or Hawley. What a trio! This is where you believe you will find the future of whatever scrum party this turns out to be? I thought you had higher ambitions and hopes than that Stuart. These three people have already proven to be deadbeats and liars and they have nothing in the moral conviction category at all. Any thought that these three jokers could actually lead your party anywhere except down is laughable. Take those 3 high scoring scammers and hope for the best, I didn’t think the republican party was that desperate but their so called leaders are getting Impeached, indicted or arrested and jailed at an alarming rate- Keep track of those scores though, a trump appointed judge might be impressed.
