Tennessee top state in COVID cases per million

Source: Covidexitstrategy.org

A graphic making the rounds on social media paints Tennessee in an unflattering light when it comes to the spread of COVID-19. Eric Topol, the founder of the Scripps Research Translational Institute, tweeted two charts showing Tennessee and Ohio as the only places in the world where the infection rates have hit 1,000 per million.

The CovidExitStrategy.org map and a Financial Times chart come from data compiled by the Covid Tracking Project.

UPDATE: Arizona has since been added to the list of states with more than 1,000 infections per million.

The New York Times also has this chart of the cities where infections are rising the fastest, which includes eight in Tennessee:

It’s beyond belief. Just this past weekend, old “christian” financial guru Dave Ramsey had his party for 1500 in Franklin. Here in Murfreesboro at least one high school sorority had a big holiday gathering. In a county just east of here basketball games on Tuesdays and Fridays play to packed gyms. There are churches with many folks sick but they continue to meet and on and on and on. It seems there is no escape, even for those trying to do right!

TN is one of the states that is dominated by Republicans and Conservatives, and that might just be the problem. Look at the states that are overwhelmingly opposed to any health regulations or restrictions of any kind, they are mostly Republican controlled states. The TN Electors that met yesterday to vote for Trump had a photo where almost half the electors did NOT wear a mask at the packed inside meeting. The governor has just avoided even talking about the virus, just like Trump and we all know how little has been done by the Republicans in charge in Tennessee. Look no further than our ineffective governor and our useless senators.

I am returning to make a comment about viral transmission. You can do everything you can possibly do to protect yourself, but if you are an essential worker and you have to get out and make a living and support a family, well, reality is what it is. My son is an essential worker and suits up in protective gear to go into several hospitals every day and keep electronic equipment working. He got the virus, he got pretty sick but did not have to be hospitalized, and he has some lasting effects. He did not do what my daughter did months ago when she got COVID — with the black elderberry extract, zinc, Vitamin D, Vitamin C. She recovered quickly with no lasting effects. It is the autoimmune reactions that will do you in. My family has a history of such things, so I told them.

Anyway, they are in Atlanta, and I’ve already said everybody in Atlanta is going to be exposed to this virus, and I expect all the rest of us will be, too. I am not going to get the vaccine, because of past allergic reactions and ongoing sensitivities.

Most people will not get sick at all if exposed to this virus, or their illness will be mild.

    Well, Merry Christmas or whatever.

And we are giving it to people who already have a level of immunity instead of asking those people to wait so that others who have ZERO immunity can at least get some protection. The CDC says that re-infection after covid is Very rare. So why not ask those who have antibodies to let others more Vulnerable get the vaccine. But “no”. Apparently that isn’t even being considered. If you empty the trash in a hospital and have high antibody levels already then YOU will be vaccinated ASAP.

The instincts of Tennessee’s government not to damage this state’s economy and not to place needless restrictions on people is a laudable one. Gov. Lee has shown himself to be a leader cognizant of the need to allow people to earn a living and live as freely as possible which has impressed me, and I have not been a Lee booster in the past.

It’s not how many people are diagnosed with this disease, many of whom have no symptoms or mild to moderate ones. To me the most important statistic concerns people who need hospitalization because of the Chinese Flu and how close are our hospitals to being overwhelmed. These are the indices that should determine the need for government action. There is no reason to place restrictions on the vast majority of the population who are in little danger of getting seriously ill. Those over the age of 60 and/or have certain preexisting conditions on the other hand have to take personal responsibility to take preventive measures so as to avoid contracting this disease without placing an undue burden on everyone else.

  • Avatar
    MARLE says:

Getting covid confers immunity; the CDC confirmed incidence of re-infection is virtually nil.

Yet we will be giving The Extremely Short Supply of Vaccines to everyone who falls into a category regardless of whether they already have antibodies or not. Meanwhile 3000 die Daily…..and will die every day for months. Those people will die b/c they had ZERO antibodies.

Black elderberry probably affects virus replication. I heard about it from a neighbor who used it for flu in her family. She was astounded at how well and quickly it worked. Your mileage may vary. I keep a bottle in the fridge most of the time. Sometimes I take a spoonful just to boost my immune system.

I need to get a longboard and a big bottle of this stuff and ride down the highway while swigging it. Maybe the Sambucol people would give me a purple truck.

the CDC tells us that 51,000 China-virus-labeled deaths were actually caused by heart attacks. In fairness, some observers claim that COVID can induce heart attacks in certain individuals, which underlines the reality that people with comorbidities (e.g., heart disease) are most vulnerable; note that the CDC reported this summer that 94 percent of China virus “victims” had an average of 2.6 comorbidities. The vast majority of the population, however, has a SARS-CoV-2 survival rate in excess of 99.5 percent.
The CDC reported that only 6% of SARS-2 deaths were SARS-2 deaths.

Actually I think “the point here” is the fact that this summer Ron DeSantis (R), Governor of Florida was accused by Taxpayer’s control freak friends on the left of committing a veritable genocide against the elderly people in Florida because of his reluctance to bankrupt and control the citizens of that state with sufficient zeal. Check the map accompanying this article once again. See Florida has one of the lowest incidence of disease in this country. Governors Kim Reynolds (R) of Iowa and Greg Abbott (R) of Texas faced similar accusations and the map shows their policies produced similar results. Apparently the causal connection between a Governor’s valuing the freedom of his state’s citizens and the incidence of the Chinese Flu suffered by the citizens of that state is not as direct and inevitable as the simplistic “Democrat-control-good; Republican-freedom-bad” explanation offered by Taxpayer for this and all of the country’s problems would have us believe.

In fact, Florida did have its outbreak back during the Spring Break super-spreader beach parties with no restrictions – and that seeded the outbreaks in many of the states on the Eastern Coast. Now, TN is the number 1 state in the country with new cases exploding every day. It is the ineffective or non-existent RESPONSE to the outbreak that we are talking about. Florida will have another spike because, like TN, they have not learned anything from their first deadly experience with the virus. You just have to let some of these people learn the hard way but in doing so, they infect many others in the public that are innocent and trying to do the right thing, that is the sad part.

I can tell you about cytokine storms. I have been to the ER with them. You have some difficulty with comprehension, but try to follow this. I am emphasizing that my family and I have this immune system action that kills people with COVID. The Sambucol black elderberry extract stopped this in my daughter when she had COVID. IT STOPPED IT. That is all I am saying. I am putting the information out there, so stop trying to shut me up.

If anyone could get a cytokine storm from something, I would. The Sambucol brand black elderberry has NEVER caused a cytokine storm in me or in my family or in anyone we know who has used it. It stopped the storm.

Actually the Spanish got a bad rap on that one because I don’t think any conclusive evidence has ever been discovered that the 1918 flu actually began in Spain (more likely began in Kansas) but the current flu most certainly originated in China.

You’re not going to report me to Chairman Xi Jinping are you Taxpayer? He is sort of touchy about the pandemic’s disease being named after his country. Finally, not that your responses and replies necessarily needs an internal coherence, but what does my naming of the flu have to do with Trump’s wanting the U. S. to establish herd immunity?

We don’t actually know where either one of them originated from and it doesn’t matter.

The majority of deaths during the influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 were not caused by the influenza virus acting alone, report researchers from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health. Instead, most victims succumbed to bacterial pneumonia following influenza virus infection. The pneumonia was caused when bacteria that normally inhabit the nose and throat invaded the lungs along a pathway created when the virus destroyed the cells that line the bronchial tubes and lungs.

Lee said today not to make foolish decisions, I’d say that the primary foolish decision was voting for him in the fall of 2018.

Yeah, he wants all the deniers to “consider” wearing a mask, no mandate, just consider it! The highest new cases count in the country and our state leaders are still in denial too, just like you local “libertarian conservatives.”

The only thing that libertarian conservatives are denying is that adult citizens should be treated by their government like a bunch of morons or children and/or that our elected officials have unlimited authority over our lives to be exercised whenever whenever a lust for command and control overtakes them. I agree with Cannoneer that a vote for No Record Candidate Lee in the 2018 Republican Primary was not a wise one, but in his handling of this pandemic Gov. Lee has distinguished himself by his sensitivity to the needs and desires of a majority of Tennesseans as we look forward to what will certainly be another six years of his leadership.

Yeah, leading the state of Tennessee into being the number 1 in new cases of Covid in the country is really a “distinguishing” achievement- one that he will definitely want to add to his political resume, that is a prime example of his “sensitivity to all of our fellow citizens (cough, cough) needs and desires.” 493,230 Covid cases in TN. so far under his watch. Perhaps, you are the one that needs an “internal coherence” check.

I remember #LeeTheTyrant and his mandates and I hope the State Legislature takes his and the mayors and the Health Departments UNCONSTITUTIONAL Power away.

The government is in danger of shutting down without a vote for a new funding bill in place before midnight, and just before the vote was to start, the republicans through in what they knew to be a deal breaker- and the big news out of Washington is that Pence got his vaccine today! He is getting out of the country ASAP. He could have left a year or two ago and nobody would have missed him or noticed his absence.
