Sethi says voters have choice: ‘Me or Mitt Romney’s guy’

U.S. Senate candidate Manny Sethi is out with a new ad responding to a barrage from rival Republican Bill Hagerty. While the spot seeks to paint Sethi as the victim of “all these crazy attacks,” the Vanderbilt surgeon also gets in his own barb at Hagerty.

“End of the day, it’s about who you believe: Me or Mitt Romney’s guy,” Sethi says in the ad. Here’s the whole thing:

Transcript:

All these crazy attack ads. Bill Hagerty can do that if he wants; that’s not me. You know why Hagerty’s doing this, right? Because we’re winning.

The truth: I hate Obamacare. Testified against it in front of the Senate. I’m a Christian–which is why I’m pro-life. And as a doctor, I know those are babies.

End of the day, it’s about who you believe: Me or Mitt Romney’s guy. I’d sure appreciate your vote.

I’m Manny Sethi, and I approve this message.

He is correct, Elect Hagerty, then you just have another Mitt in the senate.

No Chairman Manny, it’s more like at the “End of the day, it’s about who you believe; [Bob Corker (Heritage-63%) and Cindy Smith’s (Heritage-62%) guy] or Mitt Romney’s [Heritage-69%] guy.” That my fellow conservatives pretty well sums up the unappetizing choice that confronts us. The only difference is who is playacting the firebrand conservative and that’s Chairman Manny and he should be shunned by conservative voters because of it.

Was Sethi this negative when he was treating patients at Vanderbilt? What a downer. Our state needs someone who is optimistic about the future of our country. Not a guy spewing hate and dissension on all directions.

Norma, you’re a liberal apparently afflicted with a serious case of snowflakeism so the rough and tumble of Republican Primaries are perhaps not the best thing for your delicate temperament. Perhaps you should concentrate on which specimen the Democrats are going to choose as their sacrificial lamb in statewide elections and/or who will oversee the continued deterioration of the liberal ghettos. . .you see Norma, lots for you to do, you needn’t trouble yourself about the Republican Primary.

Connect the dots. Norma is an avowed Democrat anarchist and she supports Hagerty over Sethi. She probably likes Mitt Romney, who received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Hagerty, because Massachusetts Mitt voted to convict Trump in the Russia hoax. Democrats and Stuart Snowflake and Nashville Liberal Vandy Swain support Massachusetts Mitt Hagerty. Sethi is the conservative choice. Just ask Mark Levin, Zach Wamp, Joe Carr, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul who they endorse.

Gotta love watching conservatives and their faith in “scores” by some organization whose mission it is to fleece conservatives to produce more of these “scores” about how many conservative angels can dance on a pinhead or whatever. Kind of like a special presentation about some ancient Mayan cult that sifts pebbles to decide when to plant corn or some such thing.

Trump and all his conservative pals have been promising for 3.5 years that they will produce some magic health insurance model that will be cheap, cover everyone, everyone will love it, yadda yadda yadda. I think I heard him say about a week ago that he’d produce it within two weeks. Meanwhile we’ve seen millions of folks lose coverage, meaning those of us with coverage get to pay for them. Now Dr. Sethi “hates” Obamacare. Swell. What’s his plan? When I look at what he’s published, it’s more of the “cheap and great” stuff coming out of Trump’s mouth, but there’s no “there there”. I think conservatives will not be happy until no one has any health insurance coverage in this country at all, all the while telling us how great things are and all those ungrateful bums without any insurance have only themselves to blame. No doubt there will be some great “score” to be pointed at by the conservative media cabal as part of the scam.

Meanwhile unemployment goes up, people die, and the economy sinks as the scores are tallied and bandied about as proof of success and progress in conserv-utopia.

To be clear…..these scores are Not relied on by all conservatives. I know that the issues measured and weighted do not reflect my idea of conservative. Marsha is living proof of this; ditto that for many of her fellow senators. If she’s got a high heritage score then it is worthless.

Obviously our liberal Democratic friends are getting a little restless as we Republicans decide who will be our next U. S. Senator. Oh well, better they take out their frustrations by responding on this forum rather than getting cans of spray paint and defacing one of Davidson County’s beautiful and overwhelmingly Republican suburbs.

I thought the Trump administration and his toady republicans in Congress loved riots, vandalism, destruction of innocent private shop owners when citizens had a gripe against the government. They cheered on the rioters in Hong Kong every day. Freedom of speech abridgment is what they called it as police were marshaled to quell the violence.

Our past experience in the late 60’s with this sort of thing was confined to Black protests tearing up their own neighborhoods of Harlem or Watts. I see that when it involves other business or public sector areas like airports, traffic flow etc we Are Not Amused….just as authorities in Hong Kong are not.

        Stuart I. Anderson says:

I may be missing something but you seem to be conflating two entirely different situations. The Chinese communists seek to arbitrarily eliminate or reduce elements of autonomy they agreed to preserve for the citizens of Hong Kong for 50 years when the British turned over the territory during the Thatcher government. The citizens of Hong Kong have no alternative but to either accept what obviously is a Red Chinese power grab or resist in such a way as to raise the cost to the Red Chinese of following this policy to unacceptably high levels by a number of means including violence. It was not simply a question of the limits of freedom of speech, rather it was a the fact that there was no way to stop what was obviously the beginning of a Red Chinese program to eliminate Hong Kong’s autonomy before the expiration of the 50 year agreement.

The thugs in the cities of the U. S. that are rioting are doing so because they are communists, anarchists and looters in a democracy who have no justification for what they are doing outside of their narrow ideology which is adhered to by a minute number of people. Of course, when the Negroes riot in their own neighborhood it is not as costly as when these riots take place in the heart of large cities so the attention that each gets is commensurate with the cost of the lawlessness which is not an unreasonable result.

Bottom line we have two entirely different situations toward which Republicans react differently and appropriately so. I don’t see the problem.

          MARLE says:

And according to Republican Tim Scott (a Trump favorite) the police in this country are targeting Blacks. The people of Hong Kong and the Blacks in America wish to register their discontent With The Government by looting and destroying the financial livelihood of innocent companies and shopkeepers.

The point in all of this is this……is violence, destruction, looting, of private property a legitimate expression of displeasure or Isn’t It? The Trump administration and Rep feel that it is….just NIMBY

          • Avatar
            Stuart I. Anderson says:

There is absolutely no evidence that the police in this country are systematically institutionally “attacking” any group of people in this country for reasons other than the fact that they apparently broke the law. Indeed there is abundant evidence to the contrary. The looting and destruction in this country is not therefore justified no matter what the mobs and their sympathizers say. The Red Chinese are admittedly acting in the way I described and there is nothing short of violence that the residents of Hong Kong can do about it. Two different situations requiring two different reactions which is exactly what we are dealing with regarding “Republicans” (i.e. centrists and those right-of-center) in this case.

Tell that to Sen Tim Scott who is universally adored by every other Rep colleague. And tell it to Trump who fawns over him ad nauseam. That’s good for three on the Leftist Scoreboard for our most outspoken liberal Perry. Race as such was not mentioned by either candidates anytime anywhere but by golly that didn’t stop Perry from hurling that old mindless leftist standby “RACIST” at two candidates that Perry simply doesn’t like. Congratulations Perry who is well qualified to be an arbiter of stupidity as shown by these three points.

            Perry Aubric says:

Stuart that is an obvious lie. The ads for both, especially Sethi, have overtly mentioned race.

One of Sethi’s actually ends, “Let them try to call me racist.”

OK. Sethi, you’re an entitled elitist racist. And so is your opponent. And so is the Republican Party.

I wonder if you ever get as tired of your own never ending blowhard lying nonsense as all the rest of us do, Stuart.

          • Avatar
            Stuart I. Anderson says:

Ah, I see. You feel that Sethi’s throw away closing line “let them try to call me a racist” because he is not a Caucasian (though that interpretation is somewhat controversial) opens him up, with nothing more, for you to logically call him a “RACIST.” Of course, you also called Hagerty a “RACIST” so does the fact that Chairman Manny uttered that throw away line and Hagerty is running against The Chairman also open Hagerty up to justifiably being called a “RACIST”?

I’m sorry, I’m not a leftist and this goes beyond politics and begins to take on the fevered mindlessness of cult like behavior so I simply can’t relate. I still think you deserve 3 points so I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

When you glide through the Webb School/Brown U./Fulbright Scholarship/Harvard Medical School/Mass. General Hospital/Vandy U. Hospital going out and spending $1.5 million to buy yourself a U.S. Senate seat after doing little in politics and nothing in government is just like the rest of us stopping in Kroger to buy a carton of milk. The overpowering sense of entitlement in it all is quite striking.

Excellent point as usual MARLE. Nobody can deny Chairman Manny’s accomplishments but the problem I have those accomplishments have absolutely nothing to do with being a U. S. Senator which I believe is what brings the gentleman to our attention (assuming neither of us is in need of orthopedic surgery just yet). It’s the fact that he just strolls around thinking “Gee being a U.S. Senator looks like fun” and then goes about spending the amount of money necessary to make it happen seeing no disconnect between his actual lack of experience in government and his apparent relative indifference to the ideological side of politics in general and the conservative movement in particular, that’s the sense of entitlement that I detect.

“Entitlement – the state or condition of [having] proper grounds for seeking or claiming something” I think that’s “apropos” enough for government work.

            MARLE says:

This is where you need a feel for the language and not just a dictionary. Entitlement does in fact mean what you wrote ie you are entitled to vote by having citizenship. But that is not the way you have been using it.

Being able to vote because of your entitlement of citizenship in not a pejorative. The way you have been using this word as it relates to Sethi and this race certainly Has been offered as a slam.

Therein lies the difference. The English language is very rich; much more so that others in its ability to be descriptive. But it is tricky and a simple dictionary reference is not sufficient, as you have proven.

Glide through? Not many people glide through any of those. Dr. Sethi raised all the campaign contributions from small dinars across Tennessee who believe in him. No big PASs no RINO Dinars either. He’s operated a medical charity for many years providing medical needs for rural Tennesseans who couldn’t afford anything. So who’s got a sense of entitlement? Wrong candidate here.

The real thugs that are disrupting our cites are the ones in unmarked uniforms that Trump sent in to agitate the crowds of peaceful protesters. Trump’s unconstitutional actions, with the GOP’s unwavering blind support is ruining our country but that doesn’t seem to bother the “Conservatives.” As the State of TN goes down the rat hole, along with the other Republican led, conservative states that border us, the merry conservatives roll along in pure bliss with their heads in the sand. I am not sure how much more “Greatness” America can take. Trump is using chemical weapons against his own people, including the duly elected Mayor of Portland. Trump is nothing more than a mob boss and his support numbers are dropping like lead every day and rightfully so.
