You pay more in taxes than your president does – get out and VOTE and change this!

Not quite as stirring as “Workers arise, you have nothing to lose but your chains”! but today’s leftists are more prosperous so maybe Taxpayer’s appeal is a more up to date and effective version of the original.

Stuart is just fine with not paying taxes, Taxpayer. He admires frauds, tax dodgers, liars, and stooges to foreign financial interests (even if they are President). Stuart is, after all, tied to a foreign owned money management company that specializes in avoiding paying taxes. Not producing anything of value himself, he sneers at and ridicules those who actually work for a living, pay their taxes, have any sense of social responsibility or compassion, and might be a “leftist,” by which he means anyone enlightened, educated, and not willfully ignorant.

I remember when Nelson Rockefeller became VP and his taxes showed pretty much the same thing. Million/Billonaires have many accountants to shift the the burdensome tax laws to their advantage (and don’t bring up the ‘tax free’ foundations)

I don’t pay over $24 M in Alternative Minimum Tax. I seriously doubt you do either.

In 2000-2011 Dems controlled all 3 branches of government. Did THEY do anything to remove the many loopholes that Donald Trump employed? NO, they did not. In 2017 the Rep controlled all 3 branches. Did they do loophole closures as Candidate Trump said he would. AGAIN…..NO, they didn’t.

The barely wealthy earning a Paycheck are carrying the burden of the Marginal Progressive Tax code. The Really Rich and the Uber Rich have loopholes aplenty put there by the lobbyist their uber wealth allows them to hire.
And Neither political party has addressed this. Simply Raising the Marginal rate will not fix this either b/c the Really and Uber rich will pay to insert end-arounds. They always do.

Get on line and check your registration and make sure that everything is in proper order to vote – you don’t want to find out at the voting place that there is a problem. Make sure your address is correct and have your photo ID ready. You want your vote to count! Check on line before you go to be sure. Vote early if you can, but VOTE!

How in the world does Trump get paid BILLIONS and pay no taxes? We have to pay taxes on our UNEMPLOYMENT wages!!!! Something is really wrong with the system nowadays.

You do realize that he pays millions in taxes? Most of us only pay income, property and sales taxes. He paid over $24 Million in Alternative Minimum Tax. I won’t see the amount he paid in taxes in my bank account during my lifetime. You’ve been suckered by incomplete reporting.

$24 million on what income? Those getting a paycheck of $600K will pay an effective rate (the rate that averages on each dollar earned) of about 32%. Alternative minimum tax Maximum rate is 28% so the richest person Not paying Fed income tax will never have ANY dollar taxed at a higher rate than 28.

Trump is holding the highest Federal job in the country. The Federal income tax and all of its various sub-sets that must be filed with the 1040 ( not sales/property/excise) pays for our Military (whose funding he has greatly increased), it funds 100% of food stamps, it funds about 70% of Medicaid for the poor, it pays the salary of EVERY gov employee and his pension for life, it pays for our federal court system which every corporation uses, it pays for our National parks, our FBI/CIA and our National Security and the Mexico Wall among a million other things. . Property taxes and sales taxes pay for virtually none of this.

So it is the Federal income taxes including all taxes paid with the 1040 on which we should focus. And it will be the Fed income tax that pays off our National Debt.

To answer you’re question Beatrice, he must have partnerships that generated big losses in the year when he didn’t pay taxes or in another year where the losses exceeded his gross income so he had negative taxable income which can be carried over to another year. Partnerships don’t pay taxes on the partnership level like corporations so if a partnership operates at a loss the loss flows through to the partners commensurate with their ownership percentage. I’m not a liberal so I’m not obsessed with other’s personal business including their taxes like Taxpayer and Perry but that might be an explanation of why Trump didn’t pay taxes in a particular year.

That’s regular income tax. From what LeeAnn says he pays Alternative Minimum tax which is truly an outrageous feature of the tax code that deprives people above a certain level of income from taking advantage of perfectly legitimate tax deductions so if you do that, PRESTO, you turn a negative taxable income into a positive taxable income. It’s an outrageously confiscatory feature of the tax code which the failure of the Republicans to eliminate is a stain on their record.

The Alternative Minimum tax was passed to shut the leftists up whining about people who are unusually successful in earning money keeping the money they earned. Somehow as you can see by the whining of Taxpayer/Perry et al once leftists experience the frisson of class warfare they just can’t get it out of their system Alt Min tax or no Alt Min tax so they might as well do away with the wretched thing.

I said, Stuart, all the taxes paid with the 1040 filings which include the various Schedules including Net Investment Tax and Alternative minimum tax. She is referencing property taxes and sales taxes which do NOT pay any of the Federal annual budget expenses.

            MARLE says:

And the alternative minimum tax is NOT just for those who are Not paying any Fed Income tax (for whatever reason) it is to gross up the rate for those entities who DO pay Fed Income tax as well. I pay the alternative minimum tax In addition to paying an effective rate of 22% Fed income tax rate on every dollar earned. That 22% just doesn’t reflect what the Gov THINKS I should pay so it grosses me up.

What is wrong with the “system” and the “leadership” in the country right now is that it is being run by Republicans. They are very good at setting the rules to apply to one group while they live by a different set of rules and regulations. The country is being run by MINORITY Rule. The GOP denies they are a “minority party” but as usual, the numbers show a different story. We have a great opportunity to reverse this demise coming up very soon. Make your vote count!

Yes it is. And both parties have been blatant in not fixing the loopholes and policies that allow the super rich to avoid the top marginal rate. The Dems had a recent chance to do so in 2009-2011 and the Repub in 2017 . Neither did b/c neither cares to
