One comes out, one goes in: Gardenhire misses fundraiser featuring Gov. Lee due to quarantine

Republican state Sen. Todd Gardenhire (R-Chattanooga) has missed a fundraiser for his re-election campaign because he was exposed to someone who had tested positive for COVID-19. The event was headlined by Gov. Bill Lee, who only emerged from his own two-week quarantine after a member of his security detail came down with the coronavirus.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports it’s the fifth time Gardenhire has gone into isolation over a potential exposure to the virus. The senator watched the fundraiser via a videostream provided by fellow Sen. Bo Watson (R-Hixson).

“I wear a mask all the time. All it takes is a split second and Bam, you got it,” Gardenhire said in a Facebook post. “Very GRATEFUL for all my friends and supporters. Thank you. Going to get tested Monday.”

Gardenhire is being challenged by Democrat Glenn Scruggs, an assistant police chief in Chattanooga.

All it takes is a split second. Ah, no, not really.

More like 15 minutes isn’t it? Then again, as I recall Gardenhire (ACU-85%) wants to give tuition free education at state universities to illegal aliens then probably complain about too many illegal aliens in Tennessee. He seems to be easily confused.

Just another sad story about Republicans not only not following medical experts advice but openly mocking it. They pay the price and then mock the doctors even more and they never seem to learn anything. Ralley up folks, it’s Trumpmania.

This more than anything else will be the reason Biden will be elected Tuesday and possibly take the senate as well.

Unless the republican attempts at voter suppression and dirty tricks are even more successful than we imagined. Now we even have the courts in his favor along with Mr. Barr as a backup and he says he will use them to his advantage if he can. The GOP is totally out of control and NONE of the republican senators will even offer a peep of protest. Push Reset Tuesday!

No, Eddie. People like you who can not honestly admit when Trump has made mistakes, lied about policies, made promises that were not kept are what has turned this into such a disaster. Trump could have accomplished everything he promised. But when he didn’t folks like you defended him anyway. He could have conducted himself in a way that didn’t make mothers have to explain why it’s ok for the President to behave in a way children shouldn’t be immature enough not to.

Trump should have had a cake walk into a 2d term. And he would have if sycophants on TV, Talk radio and social media hadn’t enabled him so that he never rose to the office. If he loses it will not be b/c of people like me; it will be b/c of people like you.

I’m not sure it would have made any difference. He is a narcissistic blowhard who only does things that are “fun” and pleasing to himself. He is the sort who is obviously temperamentally unfit to be in politics in the first place so he should never have been nominated.

I get the strong feeling he is surprisingly indifferent about being reelected. He doesn’t do or say anything to broaden his base and make himself more appealing. He enjoys appearing in front of the Trumpidians and being cheered so that is what he does. He doesn’t prepare for debates so he has a smoother delivery like every Presidential candidate before him because that isn’t much fun and so it goes. “He was aa bullsht artist who got lucky” the first time. I’m prepared for it not to happen again.

There is NO WAY he can possibly be elected again. There is so much energy against him and not a single good thing he has done can be reported on. Its over….let’s just hope maniacs like NRA members and Proud Boys don’t start a civil war

You continue to be hung up on personality rather than policy. Despite what your anonymous friend says, he has done exactly what he said. Trump has governed as one of the most conservative presidents in modern times. Conservatives are supporting him. Rino Republicans are whining about him. They have joined the left to elect Biden.

Did Hillary’s Foundation (Clinton Crime Foundation) get investigated, Eddie? He promised that at every rally and even in debates. Did he sign a tax bill that gave people like him “not one penny”, Eddie? Did his corporate tax cuts make manufacturing come rushing back to the US, Eddie? Has he balanced the budget ANY of the years he served, Eddie? Did he close loopholes in the tax code as he promised, Eddie?

See this is what I mean. People like you lie on his behalf. He has NOT kept his promises (as opposed to keeping ALL of them as you say). People are more tired of the lies by Trump and his sycophants and the misrepresentation of his accomplishments than covid.

The American people are tired of the pandemic. Any incumbent will pay a price for the China virus. What political ignorance to suggest on this blog that Biden is being elected based on monetary policy or the deficit. Not issues in 2016 and not issues today.

With a vaccine and an anti-viral therapeutic, we had 35 Million people in 2018 infected with the annual flu.

So far we have had 9 Million testing positive for covid with No vaccine and No therapeutic for anyone other than the privileged few. We have actually done a respectable job of containing the virus.

The Feds have spent a total of 10 Billion on vaccine development and only 2 Billion on monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutics. A total of 12 Billion. We just passed the 14 Billion mark on Spending for this Election Cycle.

Yes, Trump has done a terrible job in running (ruining) the country but what might be even more troubling is how not a single republican senator has stepped up to even try to stop any of the criminal things that trump has done. Being wrong is one thing but acting like a mob boss for a President is really exceptional. The silence from the entire GOP is deafening.
