Maury County Commission chairman seeks to succeed Rep. Butt in House District 64
Maury County Commission Chairman Michael Fulbright has announced as a candidate for the Republican nomination in House District 64, now held by retiring Rep. Shelia Butt (R-Columbia), reports the Columbia Daily Herald. He says the big issue for the area is preparing for rapid growth spilling over from Nashville.
“Our schools are filling up, our infrastructure is aged, and if we do not act quickly, these problems will become much worse,” Fulbright said. “This is especially true for the thousands of children we have in our schools. We must support the students, teachers and families with everything they need to become the best and brightest that Tennessee has to offer.”
… “My eyes through the commission have been opened to the need for infrastructure with our roads and bridges and traffic congestion. It’s even other things, such as water systems, internet service, all factoring into that as well that’ll put us in a position to prosper.”
…Fulbright said he will travel throughout the district on the campaign trail, visiting and speaking with residents, local leaders and businesses. A campaign website, www.MichaelFulbright.com, and Facebook page also will launch soon.
… In addition to his work as a commission chairman, Fulbright serves on the Administration and Building Committee. He also is a published author of two children’s books, My Day with Daddy (2010) and Little Hands (2017). Both are available at Duck River Books in the downtown Columbia square.
