List for appointment as new TBI director narrowed to ten
About 45 people submitted applications to become the next director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation after current Director Mark Gwyn retires, reports WTVF. The TBI Nominating Commission cut the list down to ten persons on Wednesday. The ten will all be interviewed at a public meeting by the panel May 15 before it submits three final nominees to Gov. Bill Haslam, who will then appoint one.
Here are the finalists and what is known about each:
Tim Gobble – Currently a member of the Tennessee Board of Parole, he is the former sheriff of Bradley County, a former city manager for East Ridge and a one-time Republican candidate for Congress.
David Jolley – Recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate as U.S. Marshall for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Jolley is a former TBI agent and former director of the Tennessee Valley Authority Police.
Jerry Kitchen – An assistant U.S. attorney in Memphis since 2002, he worked for 17 years as a state prosecutor. He was a TBI special agent from 1977 to 1985.
Jason Locke – Currently the deputy director of the TBI, Locke began his career with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.
Genevieve (Genny) May – Presently the U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Louisiana, she previously served with the Louisiana State Police, becoming deputy superintendent.
Richard Moore – Moore currently serves as an assistant TBI director. supervising the bureau’s training division.
Marjorie Quin – Presently working at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Quin is a retired TBI special agent in charge. She was involved in the bureau’s human trafficking efforts.
David Rausch – A 25-year veteran of the Knoxville Police Department, Rausch has served as chief since 2011.
Edward Reinhold – Appointed as the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Knoxville Division in 2014, Reinhold began his career with the FBI in 1987.
Danny Wright – Currently an adjunct professor at Roane State Community College, he is a retired TBI special agent. He also served as a Tennessee state trooper and police chief in Rockwood.
