Like it never happened? Sethi scrubs social media accounts

Following his disappointing showing in the Republican nomination contest for the U.S. Senate, former candidate Manny Sethi’s campaign has taken the unusual step of scrubbing his social media accounts from the internet.

Gone are Sethi’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, though some of his ads are still to be enjoyed on his YouTube page.

Sethi, a Vanderbilt surgeon, gained gained 39% of the vote in the Aug. 6 primary, compared with 51% for winner Bill Hagerty, a former U.S. ambassador to Japan. Sethi had sought to characterize Hagerty as being the establishment candidate while he represented the GOP grassroots.

Sethi’s message resonated in some areas of the state (he gained his biggest advantages in Rutherford, Knox, Coffee, Williamson, and Maury counties). But Hagerty blew Sethi out of the water in Shelby County by more than 12,700 votes — enough to negate the 9,429 margin Sethi pulled out over Hagerty in all 12 counties he won.

In all, Hagerty won 83 of 95 counties, including 29 in which the margin was more than 1,000 votes.

In contrast to Sethi’s social media disappearing act, former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen, who lost a bruising race to U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Brentwood) in 2018, has kept his Twitter account. It still touts his highest profile endorsement of the race: that of pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Actually that is as it should be. Manny Sethi paid Chris Devaney to come up with a fictional character, “Dr. Unhagerty” to run against Bill Hagerty. Unhagerty was portrayed as a “CONSERVATIVE OUTSIDER” when unfortunately Manny Sethi was neither. Fortunately, the electorate saw through the fiction and Sethi went down to a surprisingly decisive defeat that I was hoping for. Now over $1.5 million poorer Dr. Manny prefers to forget the whole thing as well he should.

Of course, if Sethi still has a thirst for “public service” he can quench that thirst with a run for the State House which is a perfect place for an ambitious guy to acquire a conservative record. We need a new Representative for District 65 over in the western part of Williamson County so if Dr. Manny would like to move a little west I would be happy to support him for that office.

Blame Chris Devaney and the election of Bill Lee. Too many people were stung that time and were not going to let a wanna be candidate, managed by a Tool for moderate government. Once again-just the truth. Hurts some but take it

Odd, given his charge to “continue the fight” upon his solid defeat. I’m not sure what his “fight” was about, but he would have been better served to unite behind the winner. He’ll never be anything in the Republican party again.

Personally I believe that Hagerty should hang his head in shame for not apologizing to Manny Sethi and the voters of Tennessee for the outright lies his PAC repeated pushed. I also believe that many voters in Tennessee voted against Sethi because he and his family looked different than most Tennesseans. Can’t prove it but I sure did sense it.

Apparently, you didn’t research. Sethi lied in April and many, like me, didn’t think that lined up with a Christian testimony. The ads against Sethi did not lie. I didn’t care for those ads, but there was truth and documentation behind the ads. Hagerty owes NO apologies. I guess you’re adopting Democrat strategies. If someone doesn’t agree with you, call them racists. Shame on you!

I can’t prove it Lance, but I sense that the new left has suckered you into their hyper racial sensitivity. The old left used to ascribe everything that displeased them to class warfare whereby the rapacious capitalist with the assist of the bourgeoisie oppressed the workers and peasants. The new left ascribes everything they don’t like to RACISM, whereby Caucasians, especially Caucasian men, wake up every morning with nothing much better to do than to oppress minorities. For the Nazis there were the Jews that were the cause of everything bad. Every group of fanatics have their scapegoat, why would you want to go there?

All through this past election Leeann and I gave you perfectly rational reasons why one should vote for Hagerty, having nothing whatsoever to do with race. Wouldn’t it be better, if for nothing more than your own mental health, if you analyzed human behavior the cause of which you haven’t a clue assuming that people acted for rational reasons rather than for irrational dislike of one thing or another?

I thought we might get through one blog comment section without Phil accusing someone he disagrees with of drinking. Happens nearly every time now……………….P-R-O-J-E-C-T-I-O-N.
