Gov. Bill Lee has scheduled the special session to replace House Speaker Glen Casada for Aug. 23.
It is in the best interest of our State to select a new Speaker of the House, and so I am calling a special session of the General Assembly for August 23 to accomplish that purpose.
There is nothing wrong with Glen’s character. After his unfortunate divorce after a long term marriage perhaps he became a bit randy, a little childish as he attempted to recapture long gone pre-nuptial days – nothing unusual here were it not for the fact that the liberal’s relentless guerilla war scored a “gotcha” at Glen’s expense.
Stuart doesn’t look at what they did/do, he looks to see if they are TN Republicans, that is all that matters. TN Republicans can do no wrong. Just ask the U.S. Supreme Court in their ruling on residency requirements for liquor store ownership.
Stuart frequently rants and raves about the centrist/tepid conservative Republicans whom he regards as the most pernicious of political specimen yet James’ takeaway from this is that Stuart believes that “TN Republicans can do no wrong.” Sometimes trying to save this nation is such a thankless task.
It is so interesting to read the opinions concerning Casada from the pure and noble. Actually the word Self-righteous comes to mind. And hypocrites. Another word coming to my mind. Good grief. ?
Why do we have to wait until the end of August to dump Casada? Does the Gov want to give Casada time to use his speaker authority to appoint other ethically challenged dinosaurs to government agencies? We need clean government NOW that actually SERVES the citizens of TN.
The biggest waste in all of this are the taxpayer dollars used to call a special session. Casada is stepping down in August and evidently the state of Tennessee will fall apart by January if a new speaker is not elected.
I love how Bill Lee is trying to regain his self-righteous leader brand. “It is in the best interest of our state…” therefore, “I am calling a special session.”. Pharisee?
More Tennessee Republicans bowing down to the Federal Deep State:
“Tennessee began offering driver’s licenses meeting federal Real ID standards on July 1. Starting in October 2020, the new cards will be needed to clear airport security or enter federal or military facilities. Passports can be used in lieu of the upgraded driver’s licenses.” *

I just hope they nominate someone at least as conservative as Glen Casada so the Republican Party can continue its slow but steady move to the right.
Claims of Representative Casada’s conservatism have soured for me. Is/it too much to ask that the Speaker should be can person of good character?

If you don’t recognize the issues with Mr. Casada’s character, you are blind.
Oh yeh, he spent too much on redecorating his office. My ex-wife did that sort of thing all the time and she has a sterling character.
Don’t you have more important things to do with your time, Glen Casada? Oh, I guess not. You’re not the Speaker!
He was more than a bit randy BEFORE his unfortunate divorce.

Stuart is a psuedonym for “Randy” Glen Casada. Go home Randy.

I’m ready for Matt Hill. We need more randy Christian magicians in leadership.

He is waiting because he clearly believes this whole Casada witch hunt is garbage and undeserved persecution.
Yeah according to Stuart all Casada’s backstabbing and ruthless, self-serving leadership was just because he was horny. So it’s all good.

Slow motion train wreck.

Who is paying for this? It ought to come straight out of the Speaker’s budget.
The people of Tennessee are paying for this. No need for a special session, it just adds to the drama and is an unnecessary expense.
