Golden elected to third term as state GOP chairman

Republicans hold a unity event in Franklin following the primary election on Aug. 8, 2020.

The executive committee of the state Republican Party has unanimously elected Scott Golden to a third term as chairman.

Golden was unopposed for the party’s top leadership post at the GOP panel’s meeting in Franklin on Saturday.

“That was an absolute vote of confidence for this team, and we will not let you down,” Golden said after the vote.

Golden touted Republican electoral successes that included President Donald Trump matching his Tennessee winning percentage from four years ago, former Ambassador Bill Hagerty being elected to the U.S. Senate, and the GOP losing just one seat in the General Assembly.

Golden, a former aide to then-U.S. Reps. Marsha Blackburn and Stephen Fincher, was first elected to the job in 2016.

The TRP has no infrastructure, doesn’t hire staff, doesn’t raise money, doesn’t have any training programs for candidates or activists, etc.

Scott Golden shows up to events. Thats what he’s known for. That’s it. That’s all he does. Shows up to events.

If Tennessee were a swing state we would be in a world of hurt with Golden at the TRP. Golden is just really lucky that he’s in Tennessee and not a state like GA. If he were in GA he would have been fired by the SEC a long time ago for gross incompetence.

Scott Golden is super! The Trump campaign did not invest in signs in Tennessee because they were wisely focusing their efforts elsewhere. The TRC coordinated sign procurement and distribution through the county parties. In 2018, the TRC did the same thing for Marsha Blackburn when Bredesen was pouring millions into his campaign. That’s just a small part of the work done by TRC. We’re lucky to have Scott as an extremely hard worker and man of good character. Republican candidates are doing very well in Tennessee. Scott Golden is a big part of that success!

So, you’re saying that yard signs are a sign of success? Ok.

That’s not a small part of of the work done, that’s probably the most work done by Golden. HE DOESN’T DO ANYTHING AT ALL!

You are sadly unaware of Scott’s work. Again, we’re lucky to have him and the state’s supermajority and the voting record in statewide elections are the evidence.

Correction…. Golden does do something-he collects his pay from the Haslam’s directly and indirectly. NO CONSERVATIVES ARE ALLOWED TO OPERATE IN TENNESSEE POLITICS AS A RESULT

How does Scott Golden get his pay directly from the Haslam’s? “NO CONSERVATIVES ARE ALLOWED TO OPERATE IN TENNESSEE POLITICS AS A RESULT” Are you serious? I guess Mark Green is a liberal?

The level of ignorance about the state GOP is incredible. It never ceases to amaze me about these “keyboard warriors” who have never even run for office or been involved in a successful campaign at ANY level trash everyone else.

Scott Golden has a staff, they raise money and they train candidates and volunteers. What they do NOT do is get involved in GOP primaries like many chairman in the past have done. Scott Golden is dong a great job!

Haslam family doing MORE damage to TN. Cleveland Browns (Haslam owned) beating TN really hurts our local economy. This is another case of elitists having their cake and eating it too. I know many that will read this will disagree with me-but the truth hurts. This is more hard truth. Sorry

I’m getting disgusting emails from Scott Golden going on about supporting insurrectionists and talking down the idea of unity … what a sick, sick man. I don’t want to live in a world (or a state) run by Scott Golden.
