Facebook page urges Green to run against Corker

A Facebook page has been set up under the title “Draft Mark Green to run for U.S. Senate in 2018” and The Tennessean quotes Rick Williams,  “a tea party-aligned conservative activist,” saying he was one of several people who helped form a group of the same name.

“It’s a group of conservatives from across the state,” Williams said, adding that he and others in the group were supportive of Green’s bid for governor and Army secretary. Some who are part of the online group were among the signatories of a letter encouraging Green to run for governor.

“A lot of us don’t see Bob Corker as supportive of the president as he should be,” Williams said.

The page also gets a mention in rambling Jackson Baker post, wherein the Memphis Flyer sage — also citing Williams as a source — notes that other names mentioned as possible Republican opponents for Corker include Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, State House Representative Andy Holt and Americans for Prosperity Tennessee state director Andrew Ogles.

The Facebook page (HERE) says Corker “joined his close friend Barack Hussian Obama and became the ‘Father’ of the Iran Deal… Then just this week Senator Corker goes against President Trump and says he will stop all monies going to the Gulf States Coopertive (sic) as he can as Chairman of the United States Senate Intelligence Committee if the United States position under President Trump does not change about Qatar.

“President Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson calls Qatar a state sponsor of terrorism. But Corker wants to side with Qatar. Apparently all of that oil money means a lot to Corker. By the way none of the statements on this page are from State Senator Mark Green.

“This is a statement from the many TENNESSEANS who believe this all to be true. It is time we all like this page and encourage Mark Green to run for the U.S. Senate in 2018.”

As of Thursday morning, the page had 146 “likes.” Corker had no comment, the Tennessean says, and state Senator Green – who has declared he’s thinking about running for either the U.S. Senate or the U.S. House after abandoning a run for governor – could not be reached for comment. Green earlier this year withdrew as Trump’s nominee for U.S. Army secretary after being widely criticized by LGBT activists and Muslim groups.

Senator Corker refused to put forth a bill that would direct the State Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) a terrorist organization. Qatar supports the MB and gives time on their radio station, Al Jazeera, to Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the spiritual leader of the MB, to preach hate of the United States. the MB supports ISIS. We need new leadership in Congress.

When Mark said he may run for the U. S. House he wasn’t talking about the Seventh District where he lives. Rather, many believe he was talking about the Sixth District where we already have a fabulous conservative candidate in Judd Matheny.

It would be tragic if Mark Green decided to run against Judd in the Republican primary while a middle of the road nonentity like Corker got a free ride. Only Mark Green has the financial resources to challenge Corker. Green For Senate in 2018.
