Dickerson endorsed by Sierra Club

State Sen. Steve Dickerson has landed the endorsement of the Tennessee chapter of the Sierra Club. The Nashville Republican is facing a tough re-election campaign this fall against Democrat Heidi Campbell, the mayor of Oak Hill.

“I’m proud to have the endorsement of the Tennessee Chapter of Sierra Club, a grassroots organization that works nationwide to build an equitable and sustainable world,” Dickerson said in a release. “I have spent my life consistently and proudly pro-environment. As your state Senator, I will continue working to put legislation in place that protects our environment here in Tennessee and worldwide.”

Dickerson first won the redrawn district in 2012, beating Democrat Phillip North 54% to 46%. Four years later, Dickerson defeated Democrat Erin Coleman 56% to 44%.

OF COURSE HE HAS! Dickerson (ACU-71%) the most worthless Republican in the State Senate would most certainly get the envirofanatic endorsement. That brings up the age old question if in order to have a Republican officeholder from a liberal ghetto like Davidson County, is it worth having a specimen like Steve Dickerson as a Republican. If only there weren’t so many “Steve Dickersons” in the Republican Party.

Are you waiting for the Organization of Lawless Environmental Polluters endorsements? Lots of good Repubs on that list.

As a matter of fact those of us who are supporters of the OLEP are looking forward to having our convention in the next few weeks when we will decide on which officeholders will receive our coveted endorsement. Oh how I look forward to our convention! It’s not only serious business like endorsements either. We have events. We usually have the convention near one of those great American coal burning electric generation plants and my favorite event is the contest as to who can climb to the top of the chimney fastest and breath in that smoke and savor the odor of “AMERICA, WORKING AND PROSPEROUS.”

Yes, it’s worth having an occasional Dickerson Republican. He’s unreliable as a vote for conservative values. However, as evidenced by the intolerance of Representative John DeBerry, a pro-life Democrat, you can absolutely rely on the Democrats to vote in lock step. His place helps secure that solid Republican majority that preserves Republican leadership for each committee and subcommittee. Nothing is served by rolling over and allowing the Democrats to have control of all elected offices in Nashville. Just think of the value of a Republican US Congressman to help displace Speaker Pelosi? Yet, the Republicans won’t even field a candidate in District 5. Cowardly, if you ask me!

Backed by many of the same political leaders that helped Bill Hagerty.

We just had a terrible Republican Primary insofar as there was no proven conservative running for the U.S. Senate. The only thing to be achieved was the decisive defeat of Manny Sethi which I am happy to say was accomplished. Now lets put that election behind us and closely follow how Hagerty votes in the Senate. Surely he’ll be to the right of Lamar so the rightward march of the Tennessee Republican delegation in Congress will continue unabated. The question is, how much farther to the right will Hagerty go.

OH YOU WHINERS !!!! Trump lost that State Senate district by 13 points in 2016 … BUT .. no doubt…. ALL YOU WHINERS….. would prefer another Jeff Yarbo or THELMA HARPER in that seat instead of a Steve Dickerson who is currently the ONLY Republican from Nashville in the TN Legislature!

Oh, you WHINERS are sooooooooooo smart !! 🙂

The Drinking reference again, Phil? Over and over you’re witty??? comeback is that those with whom you disagree are drinkers….day drinkers in particular. Projection is the psychological phenomenon going on here; they have “programs” for this .

Sooooo one of the biggest proponents of UN Agenda 21 and the destruction of property rights is endorsing Dickerson? Just another of MANY reason why this Democrat posing as a Republican needs to be voted out of office.

The Sierra Club does EXCELLENT work! If it weren’t for their efforts and others like them, we would be living in a world with no trees, clean water or green, open spaces for the public.

Sierra Club does great work! However, their endorsement seems not to consider that Democrats deserve more representation in the Legislature. That district was Gerrymandered. Nashville is Democratic.

Nashville is Democratic. Blame the legislature (especially Speaker Harwell) for that.

The Sierra Club doesn’t “sustain” anything but its own existence. Sierra used to consider population control, and, by extension, immigration control, as necessary to environmental preservation. Sierra caved a long time ago to a big donor who wanted them to ignore immigration and the consequent astronomical population growth. I used to know the name of the donor but can’t recall it at the moment.

Many of us got into immigration control for environmental reasons, and a number of folks who lead or have led immigration-control orgs used to be members of the Sierra Club. I wasn’t.

Yeah, By completely ignoring the Covid-19 virus Trump, with the silent support of the GOP are doing one heck of a job of population control in the US. 174,000 dead on Trumps watch.

I believe it was last January Trump clamped down on travel from China while the Communists were forbidding travel within China but were doing nothing about international travel out of China which brought the Chinese flu especially to Northern Italy and thence to the rest of Europe and eventually the U. S. When Trump wisely stopped Chinese from coming to the U. S. your friends in the Democratic Party and liberal media couldn’t resist going to their obsession with identity politics and were screaming at Trump for being a “RACIST” and “XENOPHOBE.” All through February Democratic politicians were downplaying the flu with Nancy Pelosi memorably encouraging people not to miss going to San Francisco’s Chinatown for the Chinese New Year celebrations and De Blasio as late as March 1sth encouraging people to get out and enjoy the attractions in New York City.

Understandably, the Democrats want to divert attention from the violent upheavals being caused by their supporters in cities all over this country by trying to pin our less than perfect response to the Chinese flu on Trump. When a crises occurs once every 100 years the response to that crises is bound to be less than perfect. That doesn’t mean Taxpayer that you have to sit there and hypnotically shake your head up and down and allow them to succeed.

Tell me again Stuart how closing the front door but leaving the backdoor open for over a month and then allows waivers on top of that is brilliant. Trump is only telling half the story about his strategic moves on travel bans when he leaves out the Dates of European travel and who qualified for waivers.

Stewart, Allow me to exchange a few words in your argument and I would agree….I am NOT trying to, as you say “pin our less than perfect response” to the “TRUMP” flu on the “CHINEASE.” To be sure, China is not our friend and is certainly out to hurt the USA but when it is clearly our own governmental stupidity and lack of foresight it is quite embarrassing. And to have the very outspoken republicans constantly bring up this nonsense is even a further embarrassment. 174,000 Americans are dead and counting under Trumps watch and there is still not one word about a presidential or GOP PLAN to stop/control the pandemic. It does not matter where it came from – how do you deal with it? The US, under Trumps’ lack of leadership has, by all measurements, failed miserably. Who is allowing who to succeed? Wake up!
