Teague named executive director of TN Democratic Party

Jeff Teague, the former president of Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee, has been named executive director of the state Democratic Party. Teague was a staffer for former Vice President Al Gore and is an accomplished fundraiser.

He succeeds Jason Freeman,  who TNDP Chair Mary Mancini says “left on his own accord,” according to. the Nashville Post.  Mancini also says party restructuring has nothing to do with reported poor fundraising — including an the FEC filing that indicates the party the party ran out of money in it’s federal election account and was $18,000 in debt last month. She says the report was incorrect.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Democratic Party is pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff Teague as Executive Director. Jeff will be responsible for monitoring and management of the day-to-day business of the TNDP as well as all programs and initiatives that build the TNDP at the grassroots level and advance its mission to elect more Democrats up and down the ballot in 2018.

Jeff is a well-known figure in Tennessee politics with over 30 years of experience, serving most recently as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee. Jeff held senior roles on the Gore 2000, Clinton-Gore 1996, and Clinton-Gore 1992 campaigns, as well as within the office of the Vice President, among other prominent finance and public relations positions.

“I couldn’t be happier to have Jeff in this role,” said Mary Mancini, Chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party. “His decades of experience in state party politics and high-level campaigns, as well as his energetic and accessible personality, will serve us well as we move full steam ahead into this very important election year.”
