Rumblings of another Trump visit

Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn speaks at a business forum in Nashville on Aug. 15, 2018 (Erik Schelzig, Tennessee Journal)

Chattanooga’s WCRB-TV reports President Donald Trump may be planning another Tennessee visit on the eve of the Nov. 6 election on behalf of Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn:

Channel 3 has learned several Chattanooga agencies are preparing for a possible presidential visit ahead of Election Day on November 6.

“We would welcome a visit from the president should the president decide to come,” said U.S. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann of Chattanooga.

A senior White House official tells NBC News that the president is expected to visit Tennessee prior to Election Day to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Marsha Blackburn, but a date has not been confirmed.

A staff-wide email was sent to employees of the Chattanooga Police Department telling them no time off would be granted on November 5, the day before the midterm elections. A spokesperson for the department was unable to confirm the visit will take place.

Must not be going well for Marsha Deep State Blackburn. Gotta call in the troops!

  • Leslie Parsley says:

Doesn’t he have some pressing matters to attend to in Washington?

    • Stuart I. Anderson says:

Actually there’s nothing more pressing than preventing the left-wing Democrats from gaining control of the U. S. House and expanding Republican control of the Senate so I am thankful that President Trump is willing to expend so much effort to bring these outcomes about.

      • MarLE says:

Half of the people in the country don’t feel as you do, Stuart, about the pressing nature of Trump rallies on behalf of thwarting Dem candidates. AND don’t we republicans like to remind people that, like it or not, Trump is the President of all of us. Americans expect a president doing “the people’s business” not just half of the people’s business. Guess that 28K per day the campaign is rattling the tin cup over is going to pay the expenses (part of them) for this trip. Wouldn’t need to go out begging for last minute dollars if Trump didn’t need to make Yet One More Trip here.

        • Stuart I. Anderson says:

The President of the United States is head of the government of the country and the titular leader of his political party. I believe that’s been true since political parties were organized much to the chagrin of George Washington. I don’t know that there is anyone who sees a contradiction between those two roles the President performs. It therefore is perfectly natural that the head of the party is out campaigning for his party during election time. Presidents have always done it. Granted, Trump does it more than most, but that’s a matter of frequency not whether or not it is done.

As to the effectiveness of President Trump campaigning – whether it’s worth “Yet One More Trip here” I leave it to the pros. As you can imagine, I am unmoved by campaign appearances and campaign adds. My only interest in them is whether or not they are effective. Apparently the thought is that insofar as Trump carried Tennessee so overwhelmingly he would be effective in convincing those who voted for him to vote for Marsha. I have a lot of my money invested in Marsha’s campaign, I hope it’s being spent wisely.

          • MarLE says:

And the “pros ” obviously think things are dire enough to spend time here. You know the President is the Commander of the Military, Stuart. Yet I don’t think we feel his time should be spent blowing Reverie or taking the troops on a 5 mile hike. Being the head of the party doesn’t mean endless travel and diversion from his main duties. He enjoys the adulation, loves the theater of it all…..and, of course, many candidates are just not strong enough to pull this off without an overdose of hand holding. Maybe the consultants should have spent some time talking with Bill Lee and studying his team and campaign. His debate performance was masterful compared with the “other debate”. And everyone who saw them both knows what I am talking about.

  • William Upton says:

    Amen Stuart!

  • Cannoneer2 says:

If the President, Vice President and entire Cabinet have to move into a yurt at Bicentennial Mall until Election Day to prevent the election of Mr. Shredesen, it will be worthwhile.

    • MarLE says:

And what is he coming to say……that the military is being sent to the border and “they” will not be getting in. Who, actually, is “they”. Those who claim asylum, likely the vast majority Will get in and the military will stop none of them. And as for a 10% middle class tax cut….there are tons of video or the 2016 campaign rhetoric about giving a massive middle class tax cut. Not so much and thus, 10 days before the mid-terms, here we go again.

      • Stuart I. Anderson says:

I am anxious to see what Trump does about these incipient mass invasions from Mexico. There are all kinds of economic sanctions he can use against Mexico who is aiding and abetting this invasion and so far he has chosen to do next to nothing except posture. Indeed, warn Mexico about declaring a state of emergency and invasion of Mexican territory by the U. S. Army as needed to stop these illegal aliens from setting foot in the U.S.

So far Trump is playing his supporters for fools. I wonder how much longer they will put up with it.

        • MarLE says:

Maybe Marsha should tell supporters just that…..the truth. The cameras and microphones are on her daily. The last caravan just months ago had nearly all who claimed asylum into the country to await a court date~ 7000 pending cases. If our trade situation is so imbalanced then that leverage should have been used on Mexico before any new-Nafta deal was even begun let alone, signed. As a welfare state, we cannot allow any additional “refugees” who are immediately eligible for every taxpayer funded give-away from Medicaid to food stamps, to housing etc etc etc. to free Miranda-guaranteed lawyers. Military on the border….I guess they suppose this, along with tax cuts that were a spit in the ocean are supposed to seal the deal here in TN

          • James White says:

I doubt there can be much sanctions against Mexico, that would violate the current NAFTA agreement. These ‘free trade’ agreements have Little about trade and much about lost of sovereignty. I believe Trump is just postering for the election and Nothing is ever done about illegal immigration other than giving them Amnesty, which Marsha has voted FOR.

          • MarLE says:

Immigration control should have been a Pre-condition to even sitting down. But immigration is up under Trump with the twist that many more are claiming Refugee status which is the worst of all possibilities b/c they are eligible for every gov give-away to low income individuals and that eligibility starts on day one.

          • MarLE says:

There is NO daylight between Trump and Marsha on the immigration issue. If you know of any please let us know here. The Massive Middle Class tax cut, as it was heralded, is in need of an extra dose of 10% apparently. There was no massive tax cut for the middle class. Trump and Mnuchin said daily that the tax cut would not benefit the rich , “not one penny”. Upset by that lie? He looked right at Hillary at the 2d debate that if he were president she’d be in jail…..2 weeks after his victory he declared no interest in prioritizing her foundation’s investigation as “she has suffered enough” . Delighted with that lie? Where has Marsh been in supporting all of these lies including the ones he is telling now? Those who cover up lies are helping mislead people. Not too good……………..

          • MarLE says:

I am incessantly mentioning these “imperfections” because they and their devotees never come clean about them~ as if what they are saying and standing for IS conservative. Tell it like it is……my candidate is Not a Democrat and that is the strongest recommendation that can be Honestly made.

        • MarLE says:

Someone has hacked your account, Stuart, and in that process portrayed you as someone fed up with lies! Have this looked into, immediately.

          • Stuart I. Anderson says:

I spent about $9,000 trying to make Ted Cruz President of the United States rather than Donald Trump. I am a conservative, not a Trumpidian. Every dollar I spend and every choice I make is dedicated to furthering the conservative cause while fighting the scourge of liberalism and other leftist pathologies. Admittedly this involves enthusiastically supporting imperfect candidates and causes. Doing so, however, is far more productive than incessantly complaining about how everything and everybody falls short of perfection when only perfection will do.

          • James White says:

Cruz a conservative? Isn’t his wife a member of the Left’s Aspen Institute?

          • Stuart I. Anderson says:

Yea, and I bet the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations too. Heidi Cruz, a leftist! WHO WOULD KNOW?!?!?

            Thank you James.

          • James White says:

Ted Cruz is a graduate of the Aspen Institute, Council on Foreign Relations controlled. He will continue the More War, More Big Government, Less Freedom and Less Liberty.

Hedi Cruz showed her role in supporting the North American Union, in the book, from the CFR “Building A North American Community”. Which wants No Borders. The book shows members of the task force that put it together, which Heidi Cruz is a task force member. She worked at J.P.Morgan and Goldman Sachs. Heidi has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations for many years, unil Ted got political, then she dropped out.

Stuart, Your friend, Tennessee Congressman Marsha Blackburn (7th District Representative, Republican), wants to look beyond current issues towards new structures and forms of cooperation between the European Union and the United States. Yes, my fellow Americans, my congressman is not only promoting the Transatlantic Partnership, she is a Member. Does she represent the Constitution and We the People, or does she represent the European Union ?

  • Donna Locke says:

I dreamed last night that we lost our country. I’ve dreamed this before, the first time in the 1990s. There was a huge darkness associated with it. A very bad thing. I tend to have precognitive dreams, so I remembered it, wrote it down.

Yes, nothing is going to be done about immigration. I’m sorry. A number of policies and laws should have been changed by now.

    • MarLE says:

And in your dream did Condoleezza Rice just endorse Marsha? The sec of state who might have been able to get a handle on illegal immigration 18 yrs ago when it was still manageable~but didn”t…….. She has just put a punctuation mark on what is wrong with the Senate race when it comes to immigration issues, An endorsement from the do-nothing W era; hat could be better as this race draws toward the end?

      • James White says:

And Condoleezza Rice, being CFR member, did NOT want to fix the illegal immigration issue. The plan is World Government, like it or not.

        • MarLE says:

you are right about that…..From Bush-era Republicans (when did Marsha show up in Congress) all the way through today Neither party has stopped the madness. Since Trump-era Asylum cases are Way Up I am going to say he has turned the tide from bad to worse. And a WALL will not stop visa-jumpers who make up more than half of illegals NOR will it stop Asylum seekers. Yet one Republican keeps harping on the wall As IF that were the solution.

          • Donna Locke says:

Regardless of what happens, it is important to leave a record for the future. There will be many in the future who will not understand how their conditions happened, how or why it was allowed to happen. It’s important they have the truth. All of it.

I know this part of it, when I talk or write about immigration, sounds too woo-woo to some, but not to many I’ve heard from who had this literal mass dream and impulsion to do something to change the track our country has been on.

I had many experiences before and right after I became involved in immigration control that informed me that some guidance beyond myself was at work. I am just one of many, as some of you are, in this resistance, if you will. I was convinced early on that an old evil has merely changed form.

One example of something that happened to me was about 18 or 19 years ago when I went to the downtown Marietta, Georgia, post office late at night to buy stamps from a machine in order to stamp and mail a big stack of immigration-info mailers to elected officials and others. I suddenly realized I didn’t have enough money with me to mail all of them, so I decided to mail just a few. I put a tiny amount of money in, just to start, and stamps kept coming out and did not stop. I did not put any more money in, the stamps just kept coming out. I stamped every mailer I had and had many stamps left over.

I was the only person in the post office. When I set the mailers on a table in there to stamp them, I saw a little booklet on the table. It had spiritual, inspirational writing in it. When I opened it, it opened to a passage that really spoke to me at the time. I still have this booklet. It sits on my desk. Many things like this happened. I am agnostic, by the way.

  • MarLE says:

One of the biggest miscalculations we made as this immigration storm began to gather was that those who had come here Legally were going to so “mad” at those who jumped the line that we would have an ally in the Hispanic Voting Community. Well, other than Cubans who consider themselves very different from Mexicans and Central Americans, the Hispanic community is Delighted at the illegal newcomers. The flood of language-challenged illegal immigrants has created a bonanza of job opportunities for legal, Spanish-fluent, “culturally-sensitive Hispanics in this country. Whatever anger there may have been for line-jumpers it has evaporated in the wake of the financial good fortune. And they figure eventually they will become voters or their offspring will so that the voting block for Hispanic issues will be rock solid. So there is solidarity that I predicted while others mistakenly thought resentment would allow for a coalition to turn this mess around. Clinton, Bush (incl his Sec of State, Rice whose endorsement Marsha is so proud of) and Obama have beset us with a crop of immigrants the likes of which this country has never seen in the past. WE need to Keep deportation on the table (unlike Marsha’s instinct which is to tell only criminals they will be deported) and make E-verify a requirement for all employment with draconian consequences for non-compliance. Le’t’s take the staff of the Commerce Dept and switch them with the IRS…they folks who know how to make life miserable. E-verify for all along with the overhang of deportation for all here illegally would help de-magnetize this country. Unfortunately Trump is not interested in either of these and Marsha wants to go up there “to support him”.

    • Donna Locke says:

Yeah, for the most part, the opposition is interested in getting numbers to “overwhelm” and take power and vote itself funds and resources from some magical well they think will never go dry.

When I first became publicly involved in the immigration mess, we had the advantage of the internet, so I got linked up with others very quickly. Many people out West contacted me and let us know what was happening out there. Many of those working with us were/are Latino–let me stress that–including a relative of mine. Others were/are immigrants from other places. These folks understand what is going on and that it will kill the goose that laid the golden egg and they will soon be living in their old hometown. You have only to look a globe to see how small the United States and Europe are in relation to the rest of the world. We cannot save everyone. What is happening to us is not sustainable in any way. Our country does not belong to the rest of the world. We are a settled nation and must protect what we have.

The solution always has been to force the other countries to take responsibility for their people. This was the purpose behind the creation of the United States, in my spiritual view: to be an example and facilitator for other countries, not to try to absorb the rest of the world and go down under the weight of it.

    • James White says:

I see that Rice endorsed Blackburn is in the Tennessee Star, Wow, any more proof that the Start is Neocon?
