New Fox poll has Blackburn leading Bredesen by 5 points

A new Fox News poll shows Republican Marsha Blackburn leading Democrat Phil Bredesen by 5 percentage points, 48% to 43%. The last time Fox polled Tennessee its survey showed Blackburn with a 3-point lead.

The poll conducted for Fox by Anderson Robbins Research/Shaw & Co. Research gets an A rating from the polling site The poll of 666 likely voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Lee had a 17-point lead in the poll over Democrat Karl Dean.

The poll found that Bredesen had a 5-point lead among women, while Blackburn had a 17-point advantage among men. Among white men, her lead is 30 points.

Favorability ratings are similar for both candidates in the survey: 51% favorable versus 39% unfavorable for Bredesen, and 50% favorable versus 41% unfavorable for Blackburn,.

The poll shows that Bredesen has strong party loyalty among Democrats (92%) than Blackburn has among Republicans (82%). Bredesen also gains the support of 10% of Republicans.

The Fox pollsters note that Blackburn appears to have bridged some of the enthusiasm gap displayed in the previous poll. The number of Blackburn supporters feeling “extremely” interested in the election is up 11 points to 44%., while Bredesen voters expressing similar sentiment dropped from 46% to 40%.

    This is encouraging news, but there is a long way to go . We need some of those moderate Republicans in East Tennessee to come on board. This is why Trump was in Johnson City this week. Maybe it will help. No sense in sending Trump to the White House,if we are going to send Bredesen to the the senate.

    Whether or not Brett Kavanaugh is ultimately confirmed, the fact that his nomination has brought out the difficulty so many members of today’s Democratic Party have with fundamental concepts like truth, honesty, and due process of law makes it a gift that thus far keeps on giving in turning what was supposed to be a blue wave into a blue or even red trickle.
