Blackburn launches first TV ad

U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn has launched her first TV ad of her Republican bid for the U.S. Senate.

“I am in this fight so that we can win, and the we is the people, the Constitution, the country,” she says in the ad.

Blackburn and former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen are the presumptive nominees to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Bob Corker in November. Bredesen has been advertising heavily since the beginning of the year.

Here’s the full transcript of the ad:

Blackburn: We kind of had a mantra in our family:  leave things in better shape than you found them and always give back more than you take.

Voiceover: Marsha Blackburn.

Blackburn: As I went to Congress, somebody said, “Well, do you go to fit in? Or do you go to stand out?” I’m in this fight, and I am in this fight so that we can win, and the we is the people, the Constitution, the country. I’m Marsha Blackburn, and I approve this message.

Lie. She does NOT support the Constitution.

  • Tennessee Jed says:

She emphasizes the thing that most people hate about politics. The vast majority of people are tired of the fighting and the zero sum game of winning vis-a-vis the other side. They have had enough of the bitter partisanship. Most Tennesseans that I know just want competent leadership who will make the best decision for Tennesseans. Terrible rhetoric for a first campaign commercial.

  • Bob Fischer says:

Her record would indicate that she is lying. She is a vile, petty woman.
